NEW PLYMOUTH DEFEATS WAVERLEY. On Saturday a team freun the New Ply- - mouth Club visited Waverley and played the first inter-club match with the Waverley Club. Waverley was without the services of its top player, who was absent at the New Zealand championship meeting, whilst New Plymouth tad a fairly strong team. The course, which Is quite an interesting one, was in good order, and a most enjoyable game resulted. The visitors were hospitably entertained to lunch and afternoon tea. In the following details New Plymouth players are mentioned first; Johns and Bewley defeated Muir and F. Johnston, 4 up and 3. Dr. Wade and A. Smith defeated Bradmore and Merrimian, 7 up and 5. Mackay and Weston defeated C. Johnston and E. Parsons, 3 up and 2.
G. Grey and McQuade defeated S. Aiken and Hargreaves, 3 up and 1.
