B ARNIT T—B E AMI SH. A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised on Thursday bust week, at St. ■George’s Church, Patea, by the Rev. 11. L. Goertz, when Miss Olive -May, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Beamish, of Patea, was married to Mr. Charles H. Barnitt, the eldest son of Mr. J. H. Barnitt, of Fitzroy, New Plymouth. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of shell pink charmeuse draped with cream lace and finished with pearls. ' Her tulle veil was arranged in mop cap style, with a coronet of orange and she carried a bouquet of pale pink and white chrysanthemums, asparagus and maiden-hair. The bridesmaid. Miss Marion Beamish, sister of the bride, wore a frock of eream net over cream crepe de chine, embroidered with henna. Her black picture hat was trimmed with black ospreys, and a henna posy, and she carried a bouquet of autumn flowers and leayes, tied with ribbons to match. Mr. W. Corcoran, of Hawera, was best man. The service was choral, Mr. J. H. Johnston presiding at the organ. Later in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Barnitt left by motor for the south, the bride travelling in a brown tailored costume with hat to match.— Press. ARDEN—BISHOP. At St. Mary’s Church, New Plymouth, on Monday last, a pretty wedding was solemnised, the contracting parties being Miss Violet May Bishop, eldest daughter of Mr. D. H. Bishop, of Fitzroy, and Mr. Eric John Ardern, youngest son of Air. [and Mrs. V. W. Ardern, also of Fitzroy. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a stylish brown gaberdine costume, with pretty blue hat. She carried a beautiful btfuquet of white roses and chrysanthemums and maidenhair ferns. The bridesmaids were Miss Lilian Bishop, sister of the bride, and Miss Florrie Ardern. sister of the bridegroom. Each was attired in a rich wine-colored velvet frock with white silk velvet hats, and carried bouquets of autumn tinted flowers. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. E. Carrington. The Ven. .Archdeacon Evans tied the nuptial knot, after which some fifty guests sat down to the wedding breakfast at the | Hygienic tea-rooms. Archdeacon Evans presided, and the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) was also present. A lengthy toast list was honored, after which the young couple departed on their wedding tour per motor amidst showers of confetti and the goo 4 wishes of their numerous friends. They were the recipients of many useful and valuable presents. GROVENOR—CONNETT. A very pretty wedding took place at* St. Mary’s Church, Vivian Street, New Plymouth, on Thursday, when Miss Irene Lavihia. only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. <L S. Connett, "Tnangahni.” Powderham Street, was married to Mr. Robert Leslie Grovenor, only son’ of Airs. Barclay, of Dunedin. . The bride looked very winsome in a frock of ivory merv. silk, daintily draped with silk shadow lace, and embroidered with seed pearls and silver, and a beautiful hand-worked veil with coronet of orange blossoms and ping moss rose buds. She carried a sheaf of roses and chrysanthemums and maiden-hair ferns./ The bridesmaids were Miss Muriel Connett (Fitzroy), and Misses Joyce Connett (Alt. Eden, Auckland), and Miss Evelyn Newman (Tikorangi), cousins of the bride, the former wearing a dainty dress of pale pastel pink crepe de chene, trimmed with pale blue velvet, pretty pink hatwith blue velvet streamers, and pink bouquet with fern. The two latter little lots wore sweet little dresses of heliotrope crepe de chene accordeon pleated skirts, with hand-embroidered jumpers, relieved with a deeper shade of velvet at waist, silver bands with trails of heliotrope flowers on their heads, and little bouquets of violets and maiden-hair fern with streamers and “silver horseshoes” attached. The bridegroom was attended by Air. J. Mail (a fellow-stu-dent at Dunedin University). Air. Renaud played the wedding march. A reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, a large number being entertained in a marquee on the lawn. Jjater in the afternoon the happy couple left by car for the South for their future home, the bride travelling in a light fawn coat and skirt nicely braided in silver, with a small hat trimmed with fur and touches of tangerine silk velvet, with furs to match. The presents were numerous and valuable, including some cheques for handsome amounts. Airs. Connett (mother of the bride) wore black velvet, with furs, blue and cream panne velvet hat, and carried a bouquet of red berries and fern. Airs. Barclay, mothfer of the bridegroom, wore a nicely braided costume, with hat en suite.
