WELCOME SPELL OF SUNSHINE. LAST WEEK'S RAINFALL FIGURES. Beautiful sunny weather prevailed in New Plymouth most of yesterday, until about the middle of the afternoon, when sharp showers of rain sent home the large crowds who were enjoying the sunshine after the boisterous, wintry conditions of the past week. The heaviest falls of rain during last week were on Wednesday evening and Thursday. The registrations at New Plymouth of ,03iu. and .OSin. on Monday and Tuesday respectively were followed by finer weather on Wednesday, but rain in the night totalled .46in. The maximum for the week was on Thursday with 1.18 in., heavy rain storms and cold weather being recorded at the Pukekura station by the observer (Mr. W. W. Smith). There were also slight falls on Friday and Saturday.
