AUSTRALIAN ENGINEER'S VIEWS.' ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT OF/ WIRELESS URGED. By Telegraph.—Preu As«n.—C«pyrljhti Received Sept. 14, 6.S p.m. London Sept. 12. Mr. Chaa. Bight, consulting engineer to the Australian Government, speaking at the British Association meeting, said that even when the war waste in cables was made good, pre-war facilities would no longer serve the Empire'* needs. A modern high-speed British trans-Atlantic cable, instead of the old Qerman cable, was essential.
Mr. Bright added that the Pacific Cable should be duplicated, and he declared that an active development of wireless was essential. A low flat rate for the All Red line would be a legitimate form of preference for inter-Imperial commerce,
