Mr. Harmsworth stated that the Government had received a petition signed by five gentlemen claiming to represent the French population demanding ihe retrocession of Mauritius to France in accordance with President Wilson's fourteen points. [Mauritius was held by the French from 1715 to 1810. It was taken by a British force and was ceded to Britain by the Treaty of Paris in 1814.] ' HOUSING SCHEMES. London, April 29.
