Eltham, March 27. Returned soldiers are arriving daily, and among the new faces is Private Arthur Herman, who dropped the clerical work at, the railway station and donned tile King's uniform over four years ago, Mis many friends are pleased to see him back again. He has come direct from Cologne, Oermany, having quite a short *av at other places en route to New /en land. Mr. I. .T. Tn thanking the public, for their patronage, Mr. Bridger especially thanked the. ladies for the kindly interest they took in school affairs and assistance rendered during the winter in augmenting the funds of the committee. Whilst many were enjoying the picture programme, others attended the Salvation Army barracks, where a social evening in honor of the harvest, festival culminated in the sale of produce. Mr. B. Sturm, Stratford, was auctioneer,, and, assisted by spirited bidding, smartly cleared the generous supply of vegetables. etc., the total received being £2O, for which the Army officers are grateful to the donors and also to Mr. Sturm.
