TARAXAKI TOURNAMENT. 6EMI-FINALS

Um chief interest centred in the semifinals, y.-iiiuii were continued yesterday w» the New Plymouth green, 'to the end oi the fourth round. The "two-life" principle was followed, each rink remaining in until twice defeated. After the third round the only non-losers were Abbott (Fitzroy) and Hollard (Hawera) and the match between these two rinks in the next round way watched with keen interest Hollard had all the best of the game, being 20 to t> at the fourteenth liead, but Abbott then started scoring though unable to catch up to his opponent, who won easily Another rink which has played a very consistent game throughout is that of Wood (New Plymouth). These "juveniles", whose ages, by the way, aggregated the respectable term of almost 300 years, sustained only one defeat in the section play, and have only once been defeated so far in the semi-finals. CITIZEN'S MATCH. A citizens' match for rinks which did not qualify for the serai-finals drew 17 entries and these were divided into four sections of three rounds each, with a fourth round in section C in which a bye was played. The match was plaved on the Fitzroy green, three rounds being jompleted yesterday. Following are the results: —

TO-DAY'S PLAY. Today's plav in the citizens' match, which takes place on the New Plymouth rgeen at 9 a.m. will include the fourth round of section C and a play-off of the lie in section A. In the latter Bary meets Bollinger in rink 3, Scriviner having a bye, all these having had two wins in their section- They will plav 11 heads. '

SEMI-FINALS. The semi-finals will follow the above games, when the winners of sections A and B will play oil' in rink 4 and the winners of sections C and D in rink S.

A. number of tho visiting bowlers attending the tournament this week have been discussing the possibility oi getHll2 together a party of Taranaki bowlers to visit Australia, say, in March. About a down from Hawera Way, it is understood, have expressed a wish to undertake the trip, and several from New Plymouth. Mr Henson, of the Ibnwra Club, is interesting himself in tho project, and will be glad to hear of others who are willing to join a party, and Mr F. J. Hill will take the names of local bowlers.
