Mr. E. H. C. Sanders, of Tmkapuna, has lmd the unique experience of receiving a special mail bag, sealed and registered, by the mail steamer, from his Majesty the King. The following is the text of the letter received: "Buckingham Palace, September 13, 1017: It is a matter of sincere regret to me that the death of Lieutenant-Commander William E. Sanders, V.C., D.5.0., R.Jf.R., deprived mo of the pride of personally conferring upon him the Victoria Cross, the greatest of all rewards for valor! and devotion to duty. (Signed) George. UV
