TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPORTS.

A SUCCESSFUL FUXCTIOX. The third annual sports meeting, held under the auspices of the New Plymouth Technical College, yesterday, under perfect weather conditions', in the Recreation Grounds, proved very successful from every point of view. The organisation was good, and the events were run off well to time, whilst keenness was displayed by the lads. There was a good attendance of parentis and friends of the scholars. A special meed of praise must be paid to the secretary, a scholar named R. Oliver. Mr. A.' Gray, director of the college, and all concerned, have every reason to be gratified with the result. A pleasant feature was the afternoon tea, dispensed under the trees near the lake by Mesdanies Kilpatriek and Starkey, Misses Taylor. Eise, Watkin, Dean, Jensen, the ladies of the staff and a bevy of school girls, who were kept very busy dispensing dainties, the bulk o'f which was made at the school by the pupils, under the supervision of Miss Taylor, cookery instructress.

Some good performances were put up by the boys, some of whom show great promise. The long jump -was particularly good. Penman started off with a jump of 18ft Gins, and followed this with 19ft 2jUns and 10ft Tins, the last being within 5 inches of the secondary schools' record for the Dominion. The various trophies were won as follows : School cup for senior champion-ship,-'D. Anderson; cup presented by A. 0. Sturrock, junior championship, R.
