TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The'ordinary monthly meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday. Present: Messrs G. 11. Bullard (in the chair), Jno. Heslop, C. J. Ryan and J. W. H. Martin. Mr. McCl'eland telegraphed apologising for his absence. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. The application for part Railway Reserve fronting section 5, hWck IV., Ohtira, 24p„ cash, Trim de Vern Hunt, was approved, the price to bo fixed by the Commissioner and purchaser to dedicate a road. FREEHOLD. The following applications for the fee simple were approved: Section 4, "block IX., Hawera, 07ac. lr., and section 100, block VIII., Waimate, 02ac. 2r., H..E. Johnson; section 11, block 11., Ohura, 98ae. 2r. Cp., Solomon Samuels; section 13, block 11., Aria, 448 ac, Ernest Sowry; section 27, block 111., Omona, 23ac. lr. 34p., and section 11, block 111.. Omona, 19ac. 3r. 12p., C. and R. H. James. DEFAULTERS, The following tenants were granted 12 months' extension: Lessee of section 2, block VIII., Mapara (residence); lessee of section 13, block XIII., Ohura (residence). The lessee of section 3, block 11., Rangi, was granted six months' further leave in respect of non-residence. Section F, Town of New Plymouth, 18 perches, was forfeited for non-payment of rent. Sootion 7, block X,, Aria, 550 acres, was forfeited for deficient improvements. The case of the lessee of section 7, block 11.. Rangi, was adjourned for three months. The lessee of section 10, block 1., Rangi, was granted six months in Which to effect required improvements. 'Part section 16, block 1., Rangi, two acres, was forfeited for non-payment of rent. TRANSFERS AND SUB-LEASES. The following applications to transfer were approved or confirmed: Section 4, block 1., Aria.. E. A. and L. E. V. Billing to Geo. King. Sections 2 and 3, Tikorongi Town Belt, 13ac. 3r. Op.; M. A. Richards to H. G. Cunningham. Section 1, block XII, Totoro; F. L. Bamett (estate of M. C. Barnett) to Wm. Herlihy (provisionally). Lot 16 of section U, Town Belt of New Plymouth, lr. 25.1 p.; Gaius Brewer to H. M. Smith. Sub. 1 of sections 1322 and 1323, town of New Plymouth, 27.5 perches; J. W. Boon to E. J. Boon. The application of F. Gyde to transfer section 1, block XL, Egmont, was adjourned. , MISCELLANEOUS, It was resolvljfeto re-open section,3, block V., Waro TBD., 025 acres, under part 111. of the Land Act at the same

capital value with reduced loading .for improvements. Jt was resolved to grant Mr. H. G. Gibson a. temporary lease of section St!, block XIV., Ngaire. from December I, HUT, to June 30, 1019, without compensation for improvements.

The Board forfeited John Harvey's existing rights in sub. 4 of Section 123, block 1., Opunakc, the land to be put up for sale by auction weighted with £") for improvements in favor of Harvey. Mr. E. A. Meredith, Crown Lands Ranger, forwarded report and valuation on E.B. lots 1 to 0, 12 to 17, block XXVI., Town of Manaia. three acres, the lease of which will expire by effluxion of time on May 31, 1918. It was resolved to ofrer bv auction lots 1 to 0, 12 to 17, block XXVI., Manaia town, under the Education Reserves Act. It was resolved to recommend the fourth Wednesday in each month as at present, for the meetings of tho Board in 1918, except that the December meeting be held on December 18, 1918. Mr. Richard Dingle, umpire, forwarded his awards in the matter of renewal of leases of E.N. section 64a, block 1.. Ngaire.—Received. Eleven applications for postponement of rent and two applications for capitalisation of postponed rents were received; also four applications by soldiers settlers for remission of rent.—Recommendations were made' in accordance with the circumstances of each case. Messrs Hine, Vernon, and Howarth, solicitors, applied for consent to appli* cation to transfer section 19, block I Tangitu S.D., T. H. Summers to J. P.' Goulding, a returned soldier, who required financial assistance to complete the transaction under section 2 (1) b., Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Amendment Act, 1917.—Adjourned.
