RAID ON RAVENNA. CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. | Romp, Eeb. 13. Official.—Enemy aeroplanes raided Codigoro and Ravenna, fifteen civilians were killed, including several women and children, and many injured. (tombs hit the hospital and chureli at Ravenna. ZEPPELIN TALES. GREAT IMPROVEMENTS CLAIMED. Berne, Fob. 13. Newspapers of the Bund state that the Germans claim to finish a Zeppelin every week, which is tested on Lake Constance. Sometimes two new airships are cruising together. The motors, from the great motor factory at Maibach, are tested for 4S 'hours' interruptedly. The gondolas of Zeppelins are now covered with armor and carry machine-guns and quick-firers, and have a special device for throwing aerial torpedoes. The. latest invention is the creation of artificial clouds around Zeppelins while flying, by releasing great volumes of fumes, making them almost invisible from the ground. Their speed and power of manoeuvring have been greatly improved recently.
DAILY MAIL'S VIEWS. THE BRAINS (?) OF THE NATION. Received Feb. 14, 10.50 p.m. London, Feb. 14. The Daily Mail rejoices that Lord Buckmaster objects to reprisals on. ■women and children, and contends that reprisals are needed against men, munition factories, and aerodromes. The paper says: "Wo have sufficient aeroplanes in England to prevent Zeppelins approaching, but they are in the wrong places. There is no evidence of a fighting brain directing their movements. Zeppelins would not worry us if our aeroplaneg persistently worried them in their own nests or when voyaging to England."
THE WAY OF THE GOTHS. ANCIENT BASILICA DEMOLISHED. Received Feb, 14, 11.35 p.m. Rome, Feb. 14. During an air raid the ancient Basilica of Santo Appolinare at Nuovo at Ravenna was partly demolished. BRITISH LORD CHANCELLOR. OBJECTS TO REPRISALS. London, Feb. 13. Lord Buekminster, in a speech at Keighley, denounced the suggestion to committlie black tragedy of murdering innocent Germans as a Teprisal for air raids.
