PEACE TALK.
OVERTURES PROBABLY MADE. A CONFERENCE AT BERLIN. Received Oct. 29, fi..j p.m. Washington, Oct. 28. 'Mr. Gerrard, the American Ambassador at Berlin, has conferred with .the Kaiser, presumably regarding peace proposals. Neither President Wilson nor the State Department knows anything of peace overtures, and President Wilson will not take any action unless :< direct appeal is made to him.

Received (Jet. 29, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 2S In tlie House of Commons, Mr. Lloyd George said emphatically that no negotiations whatever had been made or were being parried on between London and Berlin with a view to an early peace. "Mr. Asquith's words at the' Guildhall." .said Mr. Lloyd George, ''still hold good." (Cheers.) ''We will not think of entering into any peace negotiations except in accordance with the agreement with our allies."
