It is noteworthy that lit was absent from the House of Commons when Mr. Molteiio's question to him was put, inquiring what lie referred to i'i iiis Trafalgar Day letter, when lie used the words, "Through our long delays the enemy seized a new initiative in the Near East." Sir R. A. Cooper, in the Commons, raised the question of Lord Haldaue'a connection with tin; Administration, and said he hoped Lord Haldane would be removed from the public service. Mr. -John Dillon said that the five months' campaign at the Dardanelles should drive out Lord Huldaue from public life. It had been one of the most disgraceful incidents of the war.

[Lord Jialdune was formerly Secretary for War, but when the Cabinet was reformed in November, l!ll-l, he become Lord Chancellor, succeeding Lord Loreburn, and Lord Kitchener became Secretary for War.J
