FIRES.
HOTEL DESTROYED. Per Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. The Nottingham Castle Hotel at .\lorrinsville was destroyed by Ore this morning. A housemaid Bleeping in a bedroom over the kitchen found her room full of smoke at (i a.m. The inmates, including the boarders, had barely time to escape. The building was insured in the New Zealand ollice for £BOO and the furniture in.the Norwich Union for £450. Mr. Scholium, owner of the hotel, estimates his loss over the insurance at £2OOO. FIRE AT CAVERSIIAM. Dunedin, Last Night. A fire occurred at Caversham about seven o'clock on Saturday evening in a five-roomed house owned by Charles John Thorne, a builder and contractor, and occupied by Hans George Rappe, electrical engineer. Two rooms were destroyed, and the rest of the house saved, the damage amounting to £llO. Insurances were £325 on the house in the London and Globe Office, and £l5O on the furniture in the Royal Exchange Office. ENGIIT-ROOMED HOUSE ■■ DESTROYED. Ashburton, Last Night. An eight-roomed house at Timvald, owned and occupied by Mr. Johnston, a farmer, was, with its contents, totally destroyed by fire late yesterday afternoon. The building was insured for £250, and the furniture for £IOO, both in the Commercial Union office.
