CYCLING.
CIRCULAR ROAD RACE. A meeting of the General Committee of the Circular Road Race was held in the Town Hall last night, when Mr. Jas. McLeod (president) presided over an attendance of about twenty. Mr. F. C. Collins, winner of last year's race, notified that he would be returning the cup at the end of this month, He also intimated that a much larger contingent of southern riders would be competing. Mr. Jas. McLeod, who has just returned from a trip around the North Island, reported that there was every prospect of very large entries for the race this year. The chairman of the Entertainment Committee reported that good progress was being made with the euchre tournaments. The committee had purchased tables and seats to the value of £11), which were almost paid for. Tt was decided not to canvass the town for subscriptions this year, but to issue members' tickets, including admission to the course, to all donors of .")? or over. Mr. B. Tippins promised to donate a pair of whips to the hunting competition.
