Mr. T. Mackenzie, Lord Blyth, and many New Zealanders, fare-welled Sir Joseph Ward at Victoria station, Lady Ward and Miss Ward will remain for several months.
When in the Isle of Maui recently, the Rex. H. Mason, vicar of Otahuhn, met a son of Major von Tempsky, who so greatly distinguished himself "in the Maori War, and was killed in this district in action at Te-Ngutu-o-Te-Manu. The Major's son is successfully managing a large plantation on the' island.
Major General Godlev, accompanied by Mrs. Godley, left Wellington by the Aorangi this evening for Frisco, en route t.o England, to attend the manoeuvres. The General hopes also to inspect theservice schools of the American Army while in the United States, and will return to New Zealand about the end of the year.
