MATTHEWS, BEKXETT & CO.'S REPORT. Matthews, Bennett and Co. report a fair yarding in their Inglewood yards last Wednesday, prices being fully maintained. Practically everything was sold at the hammer at the following prices:— Stores cows £3 5s to £3 12s Gd, inferior do. £1 15s to £2 ss, springing cows (good) £7 to £7 15s, others £4 to £G ss, empty heifers £3 7s Od to £3 IDs, weaners 35s to £2 4s, . The following are paddock sales during the week:—Dairy herds £7, £7 12s 6d to £lO, fat bullocks £7 10s to £l2, small springing heifers £4 12s fid, 2'/ 3 - ycar do. £0 0s to £0 10s, mixed weaners £1 10s- to £2 7s, 18-months steers £3 10s, owes in lamb (aged) -10s to lis Gd, lambs 10s Od to lis, 4 and 0-tooth wethers 10s Od. We also report the sale of Mr. Peterson's _farm at'- Watongona to Mr. H. Bishop; Mrs. Valintine's Rugby road farm to Mr. J. Hughes; Mr. A. Mackey's Tarata farm to Mr.'J. Winneld; and the lease of Mr. 'Hendrson's farm, Albert road, with all stock, implements, ets., to Mr. J. Salisbury. SOUTHERN MARKETS. ADDINGTON. At Addington there were fairly large entries of stock and a good attendance. Store sheep sold at improved rates, 'the highest price for the season being recorded for ewes. Fat cattle sold at about last week's rates. Fat lambs were firmer by Od to Is per head, and fat sheep also showed a further improvement. Store sheep—A pen of 4, 0 and 8-tooth ewes of a good class realised 19s 9d, four-year-old halfbred ewes (extra good) 21s 6<k fair 2, 4 and 8-tooth ewes 17s od, and full and failing mouth lines lis lOd to 15s 7d, ewe lambs 14s 7d to 15s Id, wether and mixed medium lines lis Id to 12s Gd, specially good wethers 14s 10d to 17s 94, ' Fat lambs—There was a keen demand for export. Tegs made 17s Od to 21s, a few,, extra to 24s od, ordinary weights 14s 5d to 17s, light and unfinished 12s Gd to 14s.

Fat sheep—The proportion of ewes was smaller, as they now have to be sold subject to a guarantee that they are not in lamb. Extra prime wethers made to 25s 6d, prime 19s Cd to 22s 6d, others 16s 7d io 19s, extra prime ewes to 255, prime 15s Cd to 20s Gd, others 10s to 10s, merino wethers 13s lid, merino ewes lis 4d to lis lOd. Fat. cattle —Some fine bullocks realised relatively hjgh prices. The price of beef ranged from 24s Gd to-30s per 1001b (according to quality). Steers made £7 to £M, extra to £ls ss, heifers £5 12s Od to £S 12s 6d, cows £5 5s to £9 ss. , Store cattle—A small, yarding consisted of young sorts and old cows. Yearlings 'made 30s, 2-year heifers £3 Is, 2-year Ayrshire heifers £4 Is to £5 7s Gd, dry cows 35s to £4 3s. Dairy cows made £5 10s to £9 15s and £lO 5s to £l2 10s for bettor classes. Fat pigs were in good supply, and the quality 'better. Choppers made fiOs to 80s, Heavy baconers 60s to 72s Gd, lighter sorts;4Bs'-to 55s (equal to 5d per lb). Heavy porkers realised 40s to 465, lighter sorts" 33s to .37s Gd (equivalent to B'/Ul per lb). Only a .small number of stores were an d prices, were unchanged.
