OLD RESIDENT'S DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. PalmeTston N., Thursday. An old resident of Palmerston, named Mark Blake, aged 83, died last night. RAILWAY OFFICERS' INSTITUTE. 'Greymouth, Thursday. 'A meeting of the Westland branch of the Railway Officers' Institute passed resolutions protesting against the refusal to give effect to the recommendations of the Parliamentary committee, asking the executive to supply the newspapers with full particulars' of the recommendations endorsing the proposal, and: again to appeal to Parliament, and, in addition, to approach individual members, and expressing confidence in the executive of the institute.
