The High Commissioner cables under 'date London, July 12:—The wool sales have commenced, and despite the strike a full catalogue has been shown to-day. There is a large attendance of Home and Continental and several American buyers. Merino wool is y 2 d per lb., medium crossbreds y.d, fine crossbreds %d, and coarse crossbreds yd higher than the closing rates at last sale. ..There wore 152.000 bales of New Zealand wtrots.
