SENSATIONAL ACCIDENT
TALE OF A SHELL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 1. While filling the Thunderer's magazine at Devonport a shell for a 13.5 in. gun slipped from the sling and fell 30 feet to the floor of the magazine. The horrified crew rushed to a distance, but, though the fuse was dented, the shell did not explode. It would have destroyed the ship. Work had to be suspended to enable the men to recover from the shock.
