ROYAL PICTURES. The change of programme presented by the Royal Pictures and Orchestra at the Theatre Royal last night drew a good house. The new seriea is wellselected, and contains subjects both grave and gay. One of the ibest dramatic studies of the evening was a pictorial representation of the main incidents in the life of King Henry of France (1578). This picture' is one of the most elaborate productions of its kind ever submitted to the public of New Plymouth, the coloring and scenic surroundings being particularly beautiful. This programme contains a large amount of colored and scenic studies of a very high standard, including some glorious scenes in Africa, Rotterdam, and Pisa, -which are all well photographed studies of these beautiful countries. "Carrot Caterpillars and Butterflies" is a brilliantly colored science and nature subject. The dramatic side of the programme is not over-burdened. ''The Inventor," "Through Storm and Stress," and "Trailed by an Indian" proved to he excellent story pictures. The humorous element is represented by such laughter-raising comedies as "Jugged Cat," "Max in search of a Sweetheart," "Misadventures of a Bachelor," and "Wiffles Sad Mistake." In the latter, that king of comedians, M. Prince, excels himself in this very laughable "comedy of errors." The management are also gaining a reputation for producing all the latest big attractions in pictures, and announce "The Squatter and the Clown" for next Saturday at the "sweets" matinee and the Coronation pictures for next week, which will be followed by several other big attractions. In fact, something extra good is boo1;od for every programme for the next .>ix weeks. The box plans are on view at Hoffmann's, where seats may be botfked for any night.
