DISTRICT NEWS.
URENUI. (From Our Own Correspondent). A well attended meeting was held in the town hall here on Monday evening in connection with the proposed railway north from Waitara. Mr. Pigott was voted to the chair. Delegates attended as follows: —Messrs. B. Baverstock, Tongaporutu; Bowers, Okau; Oxenham, Uruti; W. Jones, Mokau; and' C. J. Wilson, Pigott, Parsons and Gleeson, Urenui. The following executive was appointed: Messrs. Tope, Pigott, J. Gleeson, C J. Wilson and J. Parsons. Resolutions were passed as follows:—That payment be made to delegates beyond the radius of Uruti; that the subscription to the league be 2s 6d per annum; That Mr. G. Pope be appointed secretary to the league, and Mr. C. J Wilson treasurer; that Uie centre of the league be at Urenui; that the executive arrange to get printed sub. forms to be signed only by active settlers in their respective districts; and that meetings of the league be held on sale days for the convenience of delegates at a distance.
