Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., leaves, by the mail train this morning for Wellington. A cable from Fremantle states that Lord and Lady Deninan arrived by the Omrah. The new Bishop of Wellington, Dr. Sprott, will pay his first visit to the Taranaki part of his dioccso on Friday, when he will lay the foundation stone of a new church at Okaiawa. A ClirLstchurch telegram states that Mr. T. E. Taylor, Mayor of Christchurch, went into a, private hospital on Sunday to undergo a serious operation immediately. He passed a fair night on Sunday night, but is by no means out of danger. The Wairarapa papers record the death at Lnnsdowne, Mastcrton, on Friday last, of Mr., Henry Price WynnWilliams, second son of Mr. W. H. Wyinn-Williams, of Christehurch, and brother to Mr. Percy Wynn-Williams, same years ago a resident of New Plymouth. The deceased leaves a widow (.sistor of Mr. fi. 0. Waddy) and one daughter. Word was received by the last mail that Mr. C. T. Parkinson, son of Mr. W. A. Parkinson, proprietor of the Hawera Star, who graduated last year at Oxford, with honors in history, was on Trinity Sunday ordained deacon of the Anglican Church. The ordination took place at Durham Cathedral, and he has been appointed to a curacy at South Shields, one of the big mining and manufacturing centres of the North of England.

One of the best known residents oT Auckland, in the person of Mrs. C. H. Street, says an Auckland wire, passed away at her residence,. "Hirtley," Judge's Bay, yesterday morning, after an illness fo about two months. Mrs. Street was born at Sockbridge, Somerset, England, in 1824. She left one daughter, Mrs. Robert Gillies, of Auckland, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Townspeople arc asked to make their inquiries concerning the health of His Worship the -Mayor at the office of the Hospital Roaird between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and not at the hospital. After this hour inquiries should 'be made at the residence of Mr. (.'. .M. Lepper. The request is made in order to save the nursing stall' at the hospital being conrtinuaily called to the telephone. Yesterday Mr. Tiseh's condition 'was unchanged. An operation is to be performed on Friday. Mr. James Wade, chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, has decided to retire from the Hoard, and to-day he will be presented by the members, and start' with a memento of his connection with educational matters in Taranaki. The presentation will take the form of a handsomely-mounted .series of photographs of the members of the Board and its office staff. The panel, in which elliptical openings have been cut for the photographs, is of oiled riniu, and it is framedi in puriri taken from the old Waiwakaiho bridge. In the centre is a silver plate, inscribed as follows:— •_ "Presented by the members and staff ot the Taranaki Education Hoard to Mr. James Wade on hi.s retirement from the Board after a service of -2!) years, including five vears as chairman, .lulv 20th, mil." Above and below the plate appear photographs of the Board "in meeting assembled," and of the Board's offices and the Technical school. The photograph of the chairman himselt surmounts these, and each and every member of the Board and this portion of its staff has his or her own special ellipse. The whole of the panelling and framing has been done by Mr. Snndford, the Board's woodwork instructor, assisted by Captain A. P. Rogers, a member of the New Plymouth Technical school woodwork class.
