MR. JUSTICE HIGGINS' DEFENCE. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Received 25,-9.30 p.m. Melbourne, July 24. In the Commonwealth Arbitration Court Mr. Justice Higgins made a slashing reply to Mr. Waddell's recent criticisms in the Assembly. Mr. Justice Higgins declared, amongst other things, that Mr. Wftddell said he was not a just judge, and there was no man who had ever disgraced his position more. Mr. Higgins characterisad this as merely a wild whirling of words, or reckless irresponsible ill-temper. Another charge that he took a hand in a party fight in connection with the Federal referenda Mr. Justice Higgins declared to be utterly and absolutely false.
