The Mount Lyell returns from June 15 to July 12 inclusive show that 24,833 tons of ore were treated, also 99 tons of purchased ore. The converters produced 540 tons blister copper, containing 534 tons copper, 35,5520z. silver, and OOSoz. gold. COLONIES AND MOTHERLAND. Melbourne, July 21. Mr. Hughes considers the suggestion of the Nationalist press in South Africa that the dominions should observe neutrality in case of war between Britain and a foreign Poiver as a complete negation of both the ideal and the effect of the Empire. Such a position was dangerous and impossible.
