WANGANUI IMPROVEMENTS. Bj Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The Borough Council to-night decided to take fcteps to raise a loan of £15,000 for the purpose of making a settling tank in connection with t<he water supply. A SANITARY ASSOCIATION. Dunedin ,Last Night. A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a sanitary association was Iveld thiis evening. Mr. J. H. Walker, exMayor, who presided, said an association of the kind would be productive of a large wmount of benefit to people by inducing them to become interested in sanitary matteTs that were of great importance to the community at large. It was Tesolved that an association be formed, to be called the "New Zealand Sanitary Association, Otago branch." It is intended to ask other centres to join the association. Dr. Ogston was elected president. MINISTERS' MOVEMENTS. Wellington, Last Night. Sir James Carroll, Acting-Premier, accompanied by Mr. Fisher. Secretary for Native Affairs, and Dr. Pomare, Native Tealth Officer, left Wellington by to-day's express for Huntly to attend the native conference at Waahi. They will return to Wellington on Monday evening. The Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister of Railways, left Wellington to-night for Dunedin. He will return early next week. A PRE-SESSIONAL ADDRESS. Dimetfin, Last. Night. Mr. J. F. Arnold. M.P., addressed a meeting of his constituents in the Early Settlers' Hall to-night, the Mayor of Dunedin, Mr. Burnett, presiding. Mr. Arnold referred at length to a large number of political matters, and was questioned for half an hour upon various subjects. A motion of thanks and confidence was carried without dissent.
