THE MOKAU LANDS.
STATEMENT BY MR. McNAB. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., Friday. In letters to the local press Mr. R. McNab, chairman of the Mokau Company, and Mr. C. Loughnan, solicitor to the company, each denies the accuracy of Mr. Mossey's remarks at Auckland regarding the acquisition of the property. In a further letter to the press regarding the Mokau property, Mr. McNalt states that the company never approached Sir James Carroll to issue an Order-in-Oouncil, as such document was not required by theni. The company purchased the land from a Hawke's Bay syndicate which had purchased l it from Mr. Lewis, nnd the latter was seeking a purchaser for the property before the Mokau Company was formed.
