It is understood that the scheme for placing in British possessions mutual wireless communication is likely to be realised by a working arrangement with the British Government. There will be no concession to the company. FLOODS IN ALASKA. Received 22, 1.5 a.m. Ottawa, July 21. Floods at Valdez, Alaska, are due to the heat wave. A huge volume of water hurst from a glacial lake and flooded the surrounding country. In Valdcz tlie streets were inundated, and soldiers are protecting property. FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. Received 21, 12.1'0 a.m. London, July 21. The Board of Agriculture has ordered the slaughter of 2300 sheep and SO cattle at Rye, where foot and mouth disease is rampant.
