SUGAR WORKERS' STRIKE.
A GRAVE POSITION. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Melbourne, July 20. Mr. Hughes, as president of the Waterside Workers' Union, announced that the Wharf Laborers' and Seamen's Unions had decided not to handle nonunion sugar during the currency of the strike. All sugar shipped on the 18th inst. would, however, be handled. Shipowners view the position with grave concern, but the present stock of sugar in Melbourne will last for weeks. Brisbane, July 20. The Carters' Union at Bundaberg has decided not to handle non-union sugar.
