AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.

MR. WADE ON THE CONVERSION ACT. By Cable,—Press Association.—Copyright. Received 21, 12.25 a.m. Sydney, July 20. In the Legislative Assembly Mr. Wade gave notice of a censure motion that declared the policy of the Government in the proposed repeal of the Conversion Act. They will not preserve in their entirety the rights of all those persons now entitled to convert their holdings, thereby repudiating a statutory contract. Further obstacles would be placed in the way of intending occupants of Crown Lands who may be desirous of acquiring the freehold. Further discontinuance of resumptions under the Closer Settlement Acts proposal deprive workers of the right to the freehold in connection with their homes, and tend to embarass persons engaged in rural pursuits, discourage land settlement, and are inimical to the best interests of the State. The House adjourned till Tuesday.
