THE NEW LEGISLATION.
FOR THIS SESSION. Among the legislation to he dealt •with this session will be two Bills of outstanding importance (says the Dominion). It is hoped by the Government that the Mental Defectives Bill, and a measure to place the patents law of the Dominion on a satisfactory footing will both become law this session. The former Bill was introduced last session, but was not seriously proceeded with by the Government, but this ycaT, it is understood, further particulars regarding the modern methods of treating the mentally deficient have been collected, and embodied in this year's Bill. Tn regard to the other measure, it is desired by the Government to bring the patents law of the Dominion into line with that of England and other parts of the Empire. Both are comprehensive measures, and are expected to take up a good deal of the time of the House. The Minister for Health will also introduce a Bill on town-planning. It is rumoured now that the Public Service classification scheme, over which a great deal of time has been spent bv the committer appointed, will not be proceeded with.
