OUTBREAK OF FIRE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. An outbreak of fire was discovered shortly after noon to-day on the starboard side of the after hatch of the U.S.S. Co.'s steamer Flora, while lying alongside Jervois Quay wharf. The damage was slight, only one or two sacks of chaff being charred. Water leaking from the deck and coming in contact with some bags of lime is supposed to have caused the Are. The Flora was not subjected to much delay, and sailed soon after for Picton, Westportend Grey mouth. v DUNEDIN WINTER SHOW. Dunedin, Last Night. Entries for the A. and P. Society's winter show number 1134, as against 1008 last year. CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY. Dunedin, Last Night. The interim committee of the proposed Clydesdale Horse Society has since last meeting received communications from the Hawke's Bay and Nelson A. and P. Societies expressing sympathy with the movement and promising evensupport.
POLITICAL ADDRESS. Palmerston N., Last Night. Mr. D. Buick, M.P., addressed the electors here to-night, and cave an account of his stewardship. The hall was packed, and a motion of thanks and confidence in the Opposition policy was carried.
