THE RUGBY GAME. STAR (27) v. UNITED (3). Stars played a raggsd game against United on Saturday, but still succeeded in vanquishing United by 27 points to 3. The game admits of little description. It was not one bit exciting, but sometimes funny. There was a good deal of offside play amongst the Stars, and their place-kicking was poor, not one of the nine tries being converted. Stars attacked for the greater part of the game, and tries were registered by Crockett (2), Pilclier, Woods (2), Okey (2), Bell and Richards. Watson scored for United just on the call of time.

ROVERS (9) v. OKATO (8). Hovers journeyed to Olcato on Saturday, and defeated the local team by 9 points to 8. The 'game was evenly contested throughout, both sides missing easy chances to score through overeagerness. Okato were unlucky in not winning, as in the latter part of the second spell they had their opponents penned on their line, but could not score. Rovers kicked off, and within three minutes of the start I Grant outpaced the opposing backs and scored. Coker's kick failed. Okato pressed strongly from the kick-out, but Pott sent them back with i big line kick. Hard forward play followed, and Okato gradually worked their way up the field. Pott mulled a high kick in his 25, but I. Grant got up in time to force. Good kicking by Thompson put Okato on the defensive, and from a scramble near the line, A. Grant got across. Coker again failed with the kick. Rovers kept up the attack, and

from a penalty in Okato's 25, Coker landed a good goal. Okato now livened up, and guild .play by their forwards took to Hovers' line, where, from a line-out, one of the backs scored a good try. Anderson converted with a good kick. There was no further score when halftime was called, the scores being, Rovers 1), Okato 5. | On resuming the game became very fast, and the ball travelled up and down 'the field, both teams having a say in the attack. The weight of Okato's forwards began to tell on their lighter opponents, and for the latter part of the game Rovers were continually on the defensive. From a serum near the line, Anderson made a god opening before sending the ball out to the wingforward, who scored. The. kick at goal was resultless. From now till the call of time Okato had Rovers penned on their line, but could not score, several easy chances being mi-sed through hanging on to the ball. There was no further score, and the game ended in favor of Rovers by 9 points to 8. PRIMARY SCHOOL COMPETITION. On Saturday the Central School team journeyed to Stratford to play the Stratford School. They suffered defeat by 21 to 3. The Stratford team had better combination, and this accounted for its large score.
