CONTRADICTORY EVIDENCE. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. New York, July 14. Contradictory evidence is being given in the Santa Rosa inquiry. The officers of a schooner who offered aid declared that the sea was smooth, but the Santa Rosa's officials state that it was not smooth, and that it was dangerous to transfer the passengers. PASSENGERS' COMPLAINTS. New York, July 17. Received 17, 12.45 a.m. At the enquiry into the wreck of the Santa Rosa the survivors' evidence shows that the rescue of all aboard could easily have been effected. One witness declared that a greater effort could have been made to save the cargo and cattle.
