ADJOURNED FOR THE RACES. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright Melbourne, October 20. After disposing of the Constitution Bill the House of Representatives rose till after the Cup. The Senate made good progress with the Land Tax Bill and adjourned till Wednesday. VICTORIAN LICENSING HILL. Perth, October 20. The Assembly amended the Licensing Bill to provide a time limit instead of financial compensation. Reduction and nolicense polls cannot be taken till after 1920, but increase polls operate from 1912. The Council passed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, making preferential voting compulsory. OF COURSE. Sydney. October 29. There is much adverse comment on the State brickworks proposal. Architects and builders consider the scheme impracticable.
