PRESENTATION TO MR. MASSEY,

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. On Friday, 20tli inst., a meeting of Opposition supporters is to be held in.Auckland for the purpose of making a pre ; sentatfon to Mr. W. F. Massey, M.P., on behalf of his supporters throughout the Dominion. Mr. James Allen, M.P. for Bruce, will make Jlio presentation, which will take the form of handsome mementoes to the leader of. the Opposition and his wife, and also tlic presentation of a cheque running into four figures.

TOWN HALL FOR BOXING CONTESTS. Wellington, Last Night. The City Council to-night, after considerable discussion, granted the Boxing Association's application for the lease of the Town Hall for professional boxing contests. Some councillors supported this cours* on this one occasion, because the Boxing Association had already incurred considerable expense in arranging the contest in anticipation of getting the use of the Town Hall.

REFUSED ADMISSION TO THE STATES. Wellington, August 12. The acting-Premier has received word that some inemlier of the Maori performing troupe engaged to plav at the New York Hippodrome had been refused admission to the States because i.i „as sull'ering from eye trouble. The Hon. Mr. Carroll was asked to intercede, but, being reluctant to interfere with th" health regulations of any other eoul.iv, declined the request.

Uiiinuit, of Melbourne, has succe tied in selling to a New Zealand syndicate for £20,000 the right to manufacture leather-rubber in the dominion,' and a company with a capital of £40,000 (which lias been over-subscribed) has been Hunted to manufacture ninny articles of commerce now made of ordinary leather and rubber, the waste products of which make leather-rubber. Ninety per cent, of the capital lias been raised in llawke's Hay. The factory is to be at Hastings, and the manufacture o! articles is to commence early next year.
