BRITAIN AND GERMANY.
A BRITISH LAWK DEFUIAjuoN SAFEGUARDING PEACE. Received 21, 10.13 a.m. Berlin, September 21. Messrs. Jladdison, Shacklcton, Crooks [ and Hard, members of a labor deputation, arc visiting Germany on behalf of an address signed by 48 meinoeis ol Parliament ami by 3000 trade union friendly society ollicials. They were ovatioiied by an order of Anglo-Gennau workers, jwace and arbitration societies, and received a demonstration on arrival. At Berlin they addressed two gatherings, one numbering 20.000, organised by the social and democratic' unions, and the other nuinlicriiig about 1000, organised by the Liberal trade unions.
Mr. Jladdison emphasised that it was not a question of fear of Gcrmanv that had made the deputation organise the visit. Fear was neither a British nor a German characteristic. Their aim was simply one of concord and mutual goodwill. 'I he gatherings resolved to heartily co-operate in combating Chauvinism and safeguarding peace.
