(By fc Moturoa ') The autumn meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club takes place to-day and tomorrow. The first event is timed to start at noon. Splendid acceptances have been received, and the number of visiting horses is very large. Big fields will face the starter in most of the events, and the club's handicappcr, Mr. George Morse, has set punters many

To-day's race for the Taranaki Cup is the thirty-third contest for the premiership of the province, and the issue is very open. Price); Seotty 7.10 (Jt Ryan); Dear Dolly. 7.2 (1!Deeley; Starin, 7.0; Signer, IS. 11; Wee Trinket, ti.9. There is an opening for a few light-weight jockeys in this race. The owners, of Starina, Signor, and Wee Trinket are finding great difficulty in selecting suitable horsemen, and these horses, if started, will most likely have to carry over-weight-The doings of the' Cup candidates were witnessed by a fair crowd yesterday morning. Mahuta ran the last five furlongs of once round in Iniin 3%sec, finishing well. The Stratford Cup winner is in great heart. L'idando was not extended, but moved freely, and pleased the touts greatly. Dear Dolly U engaged in the Cup, and I'ylades is taking ou the Stewards' Handicap. This leaves only Moriarty and Golden Eagle to race for a good stake. The Hack Scurry has attracted a good field of fifteen, of which Explosive won a. double at the Thames meeting on Saturday, and Nicotine showed up well at Opunake. MANAIA HACK RACING CLUB.
