AUSTRALIA'S GOVERNOR.

THE NEW APPOINTMENT. PRESS OPINIONS. London. Harch 20. The Dublin Express declares that Lord Dudley's appointment is a reward of his changed attitude on Irish affairs. The Westminster Gazette's only regret is that Lord Dudley will not be here to take his part in the Irish controversy. The appointment, the paper states, will be as popular as the Dudleys themselves will be when the Commonwealth gets to know them. The Pall Mall Gazette says the Commonwealth will the more appreciate the appointment because it was not political. Lord Dudley couples with a keen interest in political questions a very conspicuous impatience of Tarty. His* susceptibility to local views and impressions will certainly not tend to militate his popularity. He should prove the right man in the right place. Melbourne, March 21.

Mr. Deakin, Federal Premier, in announcing Lord Dudley's appointment to hte Governorship, believed it would be highly acceptable to the people of the Commonwealth. He paid a tribute to Lord Northcote, than whom no man in any part of the Empire has proved himself a better representative of the King. =================
