PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Presbyterian Assembly to-day the treasurer presented tho annual statement, which showed. that all the funds were in a most satisfactory con dition. It was stated that there was a large balance to the credit of the China Mission Fund,' which would warrant the Church in making a forward movement in that direction. Discussion took place with reference to a .bequest of £IOO left for a Presbyterian orphanage, which it was proposed to pay to the Dunedin Presbyterian Orphanage until the Assembly should otherwise determine. Rev. O. Munro urged the claims of Auckland. Eventually it was decided to retain the legacy on bohalf of the orphanage funds. Reports on tho aged and infirm ministers' funds were adopted, showing the South Fund—Capital last year £10,042, income for the . year £1323, North Fund—Capital last year £6920, outlay £307, present capital £10,398; North Fund—Capital las tyear £0920, income £Ol9, outlay £587, present capi-, tal £7208. . g '-la The widows' and orphans' funds showed:—North —Capital last year £10,777, income £1035, outlay £l9l, present capital £11,021; South—Capital last year £13,843, income £l2Bl, outlay £BBO, present capital £14,224. The following were appointed ministers with seats on Church Courts: — llevs. P. J. Riddle, J. M. Eraser, J. MeCoch-Smith, and D. A. Anderson. Mr Miller is to continue another year as a home missionary at Motukarara, Canterbury, Mr Rule at X'atea till June of next year, and Mr J, P, Bathgate at Helensville. ,

A letter conveying greetings and congratulations was received from the president of the Primitive Mothodist Conference.

A "youth of the church" evening took place to-night, there being a large congregation. The Rev. J. C. Juinieson, organising secretary of the Bible Class movement delivered au address on tile growth of Bible Classes. He said the Bible Class membership of the Presbyterian Church had gone up 300 per cent within the past five years, and there were now altogether 9000 members. THE MISSION FIELD. After the annual report was read, Misa Cockln, late of Madagascar, gave particulars of the conditions in that island. Kev. G. 1-1. McNeur of Canton, described his lamors and experiences there. Mrs Mane, from the New Hebrides told of the •spread of Christianity in that group.
