SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The School Commissioners' Board net on Friday. Present —Messrs J. Wade (chairman), Major, Faull and Jennings. An ajiology was received from Mr F. Simpson, who was de ained by ollicial business in another part of the district. Mr Faull, by letter dated 4th Novcmuer, which was reail at his request took •xception to the chairman's action in lirceting that the monthly meeting held for liith November should not be held in consequence of his knowledge that i quorum could not be got. After discussion, it was moved by Mr .Major and seconded by Mr Jennings That the thanks of the Board be ac - corded to the chairman for his action iu giving notice to the other Commissioners that the monthly meeting held for November 10th would inevitably lapse. All amendment to the contrary was moved by Mr Faull and lost on a division : Aye, Mr Faull; Noes, Messrs Major, Jennings and Wade. The motion was then carried, A special resolution passed at a special meeting dealing with Mr I'rindle's lease of part Stclum i!f>, Huia and V.'aiwakaiho was confirmed and a similar course was pursued in respects to Mr V. Courtney's lease or sections I'.MI lo U<7, New Flymouth. Mr 0. Samuel, the Board's solicitor, submitted draft conditions for an improved form of lease designed lo enable jimproved properties to be leased on equitable terms with perpetual right of re .ewal. —After discussion it was decided that a copy of the draft be submitted to each member f.ir consideration. to be returned at the January meeting. man to trim branches of trees encroaching on streets, and had taken out nn insurance policy tor twelve months in respect of casual labour. — Action endorsed.

The Board's solicitor reported with regard to the Tongaporutu school site. It was resolved, on the motion of Messrs Major and Jennings, That out of the moneys available for purchase of land, £55 Is be paid and expended to acquire and complete the freehold title of section 22, block Min i Survey District, (containing 12 acres 2 roods) free from incuiuberan:e ; and it w;°s further decided to set the land apart for a public school site. It was decided to hold over the question of leasing reserves for the present. The ranger reported specially on tl..' subject of ox-eye daisy, and after some discussion the consideration of the | matter was held over pending receipt of further information.

The Trtas'ir-r report d a balance of l'No:i fls 3d, and on the motion of Messrs Jennings and FauU was authorised to pay out £7OO for primary education.
