BUTTER EXTORT.
His Worship the, Mayor will proceed to Wellington to-day as one of a deputation to urge on the Premier a reconsideration of tho Cabinet decision to discontinue Government assistance, in the -freezing, storing, and handling of butter. Tho request is one that bas our hearty support. Hitherto the shippers have been charged only half the cost of freezing, storing and handling, tho Government contributing tho balance as a bonus to the dairying Industry. This assistance is to be withdrawn, according to a Departmental notification, as from the Ist September next, in view of the fact that the dairy produce market is much depressed at present, we venture to hope that the Premier will lend a favourable ear to the request of the deputation, the matter being one of utal importance to Taranaki, ih.. home of dairying.
