As will be seen by an advertisement in this issue Mr R. 0 ok baa announced himself as a candidate for the position of Major. Yes erday Mr dock m again w-tittd upon by a Urge and itifluenti 1 d putition, who urged him to reconsider his decision, Mr Brooking, who was iutending to be a candidate, joiaing in ti.e request and promVmg Mr Cock his support. Afcer hearing the deputation, and in consideration of much from individual ratepiypts, Mr Cook finally oootented to allow himself to be nomina'ei and will contest the position with Mr DockrilL ' Owing to strong pressure being i brought to bear on Mr Tisch, he haa consented to allow himself to be *g«ia nominated sb a Councillor. This decision will ba bailed with the grrateat pleasure by everyone, as Mr Tisch undoubtedly has the entire confidence of th« eke tors of the Borough. Mr Brooking, it is stated, haa decided rot to se.k re election to the Council.
For the Ea«t Ward the following geutlemea will be candidate* :-M«ai* Leii'.ai.d, Bellringer, Wood, Stanley Smith and Armstrong. Fir the Central Waid, Meur* Oollia, Webster and Carter will be candidates The Wi-st Ward Candida's* are Mostra Tiscb, Alexander and EJmuodi.
