(Received 23, 9.15 a.m.) ' London, April 22. ] Mr. Barton, speaking at the Press t Club, said that when common action 1 was needed the Empire was already one. The Motherland might refrain from a step calculated to render the ' union less warm and less strong. The colonies had asked her to respect their votes upon a matter of self-govern- 1 meut, and he declared that what was'] asked would promote the prosperity of the Empire. Sydney, April 23. The Agent-General has cabled to Mr. Lyne that the Imperial Government has been favourably considering the question of investment of British trust funds in colonial stocks, but the movements will be seriously jeopardised if appeal to the Privy Council is limited.
