MEETINGS OF HOUSEHOLDERS.
TOWN COMMITTEE. The annual meeting of householders for the election of a School Committee was held at the Town Hall, New Plymouth, on Monday last, resulting in the election of the following gentlemen : —Messrs, W. A, Oollis, H. R. Oattley, Joseph Whitaker, F. Belli ingei, Ilobt. Todd, E. Okey, J. Hooker, J. D. Murray, and J. T. White. The following resolutions were carried unanimously: On the motion of the Rev. Mr. Evans, jsecondsd by Mr. Corkill, " That this meeting of householders congratulate tho teachers of the schools in this district upon the success of their labours during the year." Oa the motion of Mr. Asher,seconded by Mr. W. H. Skinner, " That a hearty voto of thanks be accorded to the outgoing Committee for their valuable services during their term of office." On the motion of Mr. Corkill, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman (His Worship the Mayor). Immediately after the election, the; first meeting of the new Committee was held. Present: Messrs. H. R. Oattley, Joseph Whitaker, F. Bellringar, Robfc, Todd, E. Okey, J. Hooker, J. D. Murray, and J. T. White. On the motion of Mr. Okey, seconded by Mr. Whitaker, it was resolved that Mr. H. R. Oattley b3 chairman pro tern.
On the motion of Mr. Cattley seconded by Mr. Whitaker, it was resolved that Mr. W. A. Oollis be Chairman of the Committee for the ensuing year. Mr. A. B, it. Fookes was re-appointed clerk and treasurer. Resolved—" That the Chairman and Treasurer sign cheques; that the third | Monday in each month at 7.30 p.m. at the Council Chambers be the time and place for ordinary meetings of the Committee; and that Mr. H. R. Cattley be acting-Chairman until Mr. Oollis' return from Auckland.' The meeting then adjourned.
FITZROY. The attendance of householders was small. Mr. A. F. Foote was in the chair. The Committee's report referred to the B-jard's inquiry re methods of examination, tho recent visit of thai Minister, the rertult. of the lust examination, the new regulations for inspection and classification, and sc veral other matters connected with the interests of "he school. The accounts showed a balance in hand of £4 7s. After idopting the report and balance-sheet, '-he following Committee was elected • —Messrs. Colson, Parkyn, A. F. Foote' Davey, Welior, Wain aright, and K elegy, A cordial vote of thanks to ;he late Committee and to the Secretary ;oneluded the mroting. Mr. A. F.
