The Daily Mail, in a leading articleconcerning the Imperial Conference, says:— “Britain’s precious possessions can be preserved only if the Empire is overwhelmingly strong: ini the air. “Another menace is underpopulation, to which Rt. Hon, M. J. Savage drew attention, pointing out that it is impossible to defend empty spaces indefinitely. “One of the Conference’s most urgent tasks is the revival of migration. “The improved' prices for primary commodities "should assurS settlers a secure livelihood in the Dominions, especially if the United Kingdom arranges, as she must, to buy from fh e Empire food home agriculture cannot produce.”
