i POPULAR RESORT. February Revenue Almost Doubled. Indicating the increasing popu- ■ larity of the Stratford Mountain resort was a report before a meeting of the East Committee of the Egmont National Park Board held last night, intimating that the revenue for the last month was almost double that of February, 193 G.

Those present were: Messrs. T. R. Anderson (chairman), W. Vickers, W. L. Kennedy, Percy Thomson, J. C. Allen, Brian McMillan, J. B. Richards, C. R. Finnerty. Surface work was continued on the road during the month, reported the caretaker, Mr. J. Carryer. Scoria from the lower parking ground was used | for blinding on the upper road, an& stripping from the pit on the lower road. Flowers were cut from ragwort on the 28-acre section of the reserve and destroyed. The plants were then treated with atlacide. Changeable weather did not affect the takings, which were almost double those of the same month last year. A statement of receipts for the month showed: Park fees, £l5/3/-; car tolls, £l4/12/6; bus toils, 5/-: accommodation, £4/5/-; carriage passengers, £l/2/6; guide fees, £2. After Mr. Anderson had reported on ! a chimney fire at the mountain house, i necessitating the replacement of I some 50ft. of match-lining, the com- | mittee decided that the iron chimney I be replaced by a brick chimney.
