OVER FIVE MILLIONS IN ONE
YEAR

Auckland, April 6: The amount received by the Government in Customs revenue, including excise duties, during the financial year ended March 31st, was a record total, for the first time exceeSing £5,000,000.; The Minister for Customs (Sir William. Henries)yw-ho supplied this information, stated that the exact amount was £5,----185,368, or over a million more than the total of the previous year.
The ordinary Customs revenue was £4 829,974, or £429,974 more than the■official estimate of £4,400,000. The previous year's total was £3,830,CBl, the increase being thus nearly a. million. . The excise beer duty coTlected during the year totalled £355,378, and theestimate was £270,000 or £85,378 less than the sum received. The amount of excise beer duty received during the previous year was £273,334, of £82,044 less than the past year's sum.
