FURTHER WEAKENING.

(Received Feb. 20. 10.10 p.m.) Melbourne, Feb. 20. The engineers of the Federal fleet desire to return to work under the terms offered, and are endeavouring to obtain their executive's permission to resume work.

The marine engineers' losses to date approximate £30,000.

Victorian engineers regard the proposal to buy an Island fleet as frivol*ouis, as the institute's executive has neither the money nor the administration to run the line.
