Christchurch, Dec. 2. Mr H. G. Ell, Liberal candidate for the Lvttelton seat, gave his first public address in the campaign to-night. He said the reason why he was standing for Lvttelton was that for twenty years he hiid been working for ths district, particularly in connection with scenic reserves and roads on the Port Hills. Ho «aid the question had 'been raised whether lie was the Liberal candidate tor the Lvttelton seat. As he had been a hard-working member of the Liberal Party *'or twenty years, he thought no was entitled to be called the Liboral candidate. He favoured State steamship services between Australia and New Zealand. A vote of tnanks was accorded tho candidate.
